Johnstone Burgh manager Stevie Farrell was pleased to secure three points following our 3-2 victory over Newton Stewart at Keanie Park.
Burgh led 2-0 at half-time through goals from Mark Durnan and Broque Watson.
Newton Stewart pulled one back before Watson restored our two-goal advantage. The visitors scored again in the 81st minute, but we held on for the victory.
Farrell said: “It's a strange one. I've said that to the players. You take the three points, as that's the positive, and ultimately we controlled large parts of the game.
“But I'm disappointed, particularly with the start of the second half. That was the same against Albion Rovers. We had so much control of the game in the first half against Albion. We had so much control of the game again today.
“We scored the two goals. I thought we should have been better at the top end of the pitch in terms of the first half, and we probably could have been in front by more than two goals.
“But I thought, in terms of the game, we were in complete control and they never really caused us any bother in the first half.
“In the second half, teams have just started differently against us and we've taken a bit of time to get to grips with that. So that's something we really, really need to work on.
“There's still mountains of work to do here. It's okay, but there's still mountains of work to do.”
The victory moved Burgh up to ninth place with eight points from five matches.
Our next match is another home fixture against Dalbeattie Star on Saturday 29th August.
Farrell added: “Dalbeattie Star next week. That's all we're focused on. We take one at a time. It's a cliché, but it's true.
“So we'll get prepared now, Monday and Wednesday, and do all our analysis work in terms of Dalbeattie Star.
“It's another home game and I've said to them we need to pick up points at home. We need to pick up three points.
“That's us taking seven points from the last three at home. So we need to continue to pick up points at home.
“But we know, looking at Dalbeattie Star today, that it's not going to be easy. So we need to earn the right to pick up those points. Then, once we've done that, we'll get ready for the next one.”
