Johnstone Burgh travel to Portland Park on Wednesday evening (16th September) to face Troon FC in the Scottish Lowland League West.
This will be the second meeting between the clubs this season. Burgh won the opening league game 2-0 at Keanie Park on Wednesday 29th July, thanks to goals from Mark Durnan and Aaron Mason.
Troon FC were formed in 1946. The club won the West of Scotland Super League First Division in 2014 and the Ayrshire Second Division in 1997 and 2001.
They won the West of Scotland Cup in 2005, beating Arthurlie 4-3 in the final. Most recently, they won the West of Scotland League Cup in 2026 after beating Auchinleck Talbot 1-0 in the final.
The Seasiders have also won several other cup competitions in the Ayrshire region over the years.
Troon play their home matches on a grass surface at Portland Park. The ground has a capacity of 2,000 spectators.
Portland Park is approximately a 10-minute walk from Troon railway station. By road, it is located near the A78, with links to the A77, M77 and M8. The ground is approximately a 45-minute drive from Keanie Park.
The Seasiders finished third in the 2025/26 WoSFL Premier League. They also won the West of Scotland League Cup at Broadwood Stadium on Sunday 4th May, beating Auchinleck Talbot 1-0 thanks to a late winner from Sam Jamieson.
Troon currently sit ninth in the Scottish Lowland League West with 12 points from eight matches. The Seasiders have won four of their last five matches across all competitions.
In their last league match, Troon beat Newton Stewart 5-1 at Blairmount Park. Jack Allan scored twice, with Gareth Armstrong, Dean Fulton and Leyton Dunlop also on target.
Johnstone Burgh currently sit eighth in the Scottish Lowland League West with 12 points from seven matches. We have recorded three wins and a draw in our last four matches across all competitions.
In our last league match on Saturday 12th September, we came back from 4-1 down with 20 minutes remaining to draw 4-4 with Cumbernauld Colts at Broadwood Stadium.
Mark Durnan scored twice, with Aaron Mason also on target. An Oliver Hynd own goal completed the scoring for Burgh.
