Kyle Lafferty Completes His Hat Trick

Johnstone Burgh retained the Abacus Cup with a resounding 6-0 victory over Longside.

The Burgh took an early lead through Aiden Gilmartin, as he met Kian Gilday's cross with his head, glancing it in to the far post and netting his first goal in Burgh colours.

Kyle Lafferty then doubled the lead for the home side two minutes later. He controlled a long ball from Matty Grant beautifully, before stabbing it into the with the outside of his boot.

Lafferty then added a third from the spot in the 20th minute after MacKenzie was brought down after playing a one-two with Blair Rossiter.

Gilmartin doubled his tally for the day in the second minute of first half added time when he struck it across the goal into the bottom corner.

Soon after the break, Lafferty completed his hat trick as he raced onto a throughball and poked it beyond the visiting keeper.

Three minutes from time, a Max Kerr outswinging corner found Gilmartin who struck, looking for his hat trick, but his effort was blocked. The rebound fell to King who thumped it in from about 10 yards.
