Luke Scullion Putting On Another Excellent Performance

Johnstone Burgh played out a goalless draw with Beith on Wednesday night.

After a fairly even first half where both goalkeepers pulled off some excellent saves, Burgh were on top for the majority of the second half. Despite, literally, facing an uphill battle in the second half as we played up the slope, Burgh were the more determined and it felt that if either side was going to snatch a winner, it'd be the visitors.

The winner almost came in the 87th minute when Ciaran Diver's effort ricocheted off the post, but that was as close as either team came to grabbing the three points.

Half Time: 0-0

Full Time: 0-0

Starting XI (subs): Scullion, Mullen (Cook 42), Gilday, Eadie, O'Neill, Esplin (C), Kerr (S McCann 74), McDonald (Davidson 78), Diver, MacKenzie (McCrystal 74), Mason (Smith 74)

Man Of The Match: Luke Scullion

Thank you to all who turned out in numbers to support the lads, your support is appreciated.

This result means The Burgh remain second, three points ahead of Troon who slipped to third following Auchinleck Talbot's 3-2 victory at Shotts. Talbot leapfrog Troon into second and are now one point behind us, with a game in hand and a superior goal difference.

On Saturday, we make the short journey to Govan to play Benburb, who drew 2-2 with Darvel on Wednesday to keep their survival hopes alive. The Bens will be desperate for three points, as anything else will see them relegated, and even three points may not be enough for them, depending on other results. Kick off on Saturday is at 14:00.
